The Very Reverend John (Jack) Shearer, OBE, MA was Dean of Belfast in the last third of the 20th century and the first years of the 21st. [1]
He was born on 30 December 1926 [2] and educated at Trinity College, Dublin. He was ordained in 1951 and began his career with curacies at Magheralin and Ballymacarrett.[3] He was Rector of Ballynahinch, County Down from 1958 to 1964; and of Seagoe, County Armagh from then until 1970. He was Archdeacon of Dromore from 1970 until 1985 when he entered the Deanery.
He died in post on 12 January 2001.[4]
